Portland Tantric Meetup

I am currently the organizer of the Portland Tantric Meetup, which takes place on the first and third Monday of every month in Portland, Oregon. We typically also have a themed puja ritual on the third Saturday evening of the month. (For puja information, see below.)

The meetup features an eclectic assortment of presentations that include teachings, (sometimes by me, and sometimes by special guests), informative panels, embodiment exercises, meditation, and other activities as they are dreamed up by me and the other members. It's super-affordable. Find out more and sign up here.

About our pujas

Pujas are devotional rituals adapted from Hinduism, involving group and paired exercises designed to take you deeply into the experience of being alive. Expect surprises, expect the opportunity to connect deeply, expect challenges, expect a powerful music soundtrack to the whole event; prepare for something that could change your life. But leave your expectations at home. That's how you prepare for adventure!

How to prepare for our pujas

1) Be on time. For men, this means you must arrive by 6:30 for the opening men's circle. For women, this means to arrive and be ready to enter by 7 p.m. If you are coming as a couple, the female half of you may choose to wait outside the door quietly or go out for a cup of tea and a pastry across the street or nearby. If you choose not to show up or are running late, call me at 503-708-9394 so that I may account for you and not be distracted by your absence. Once we are underway, no late-comers can be admitted.

2) Be beautiful. Dress in a way that honors the divine within you and within others, and have some fun with it! Even if you don't have the full-on flowing tantra uniform, wear clothes you can move in and perhaps some item of clothing or jewelry that is special to you in some way. Because you will be in close contact with others, please come showered and fed, but not stuffed. If you are a smoker, please take extra care to arrive free of tobacco scent on skin, breath, hair, and clothes.

3) Bring an offering. Fine chocolate, ripe fruit, fresh bread, lovely flowers, and similar things. These offerings will be shared together at the close of the puja. There will also be an altar upon which you may place any personal sacred items that represent beauty to you.

4) If you have a favorite cushion to sit on, you are welcome to bring it (but please remember to take it home with you!). Similarly, having a water bottle is a great idea as well to ensure your comfort throughout the ritual.
